Timetable Talk Makes Tedious Debate

I honestly don't know why I care about the American elections. I guess it's my interest in politics that makes the whole process so exiting even though it does not involve me personally. However, after the Republican debate on CNN I begin to wonder if this political drama is not turning into a shallow farce. John McCain and Mitt Romney's argument about whether or not Romney used the word "timetable" in an interview in 2004 was simply too silly.

More interesting than the debate itself is the fact that both ex-candidate Rudy Giuliani and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger now endorse McCain.

Anyhow, tomorrow will see the one-to-one debate between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

I agree - the debates have come down to a media-fueled near hysteria about who used this word or that. Totally miss the big issues for large chunks of time. Too bad. Huck and Paul were mostly ignored. I really think Paul is the most qualified guy up there. His connection between the economy, monitary policy and the war make perfect sense to me.

I think ron paul was right when he said this argument was silly. And why not give huckabee and paul more time? At least when they talk they talk about something meaningful and dont bicker amongst one another about who said what 2 years ago. This is why I hate politics. I really am interested in hearing these candidates in the debates, but when the meida is so baised against two of them, its totally unfair. CNN you did a terrible job tonight and I will never watch your channel again. If you ever get to host another debate, please be fair to everyone. You even had the nerve to cut them off in mid sentence and lie to them saying they will get more time on this issue later. What a shame. Shame on you.

Mr. Aqurette,

I realise that this is not related to the current topic, but I think that you will find the following articel interesting:
http://www.pajamasmedia.com/2008/01/first_they_came_for_the_gays.php

It is written by Bruce Bawer, who has also written a very good best seller, While Europe Slept. His homepage is:
http://www.brucebawer.com/

As far as I can tell, there is no other well respected american journalist that writes more about Scandinavia and Sweden than Mr. Bawer. He is published in all the major american papers, but in Sweden the media pretends that he does not exist. Why? Well, let's just say that he, as a gay person, has realised that the free immigration of muslims from the middle east poses a very significant problem for liberal democracy in general and for gay people in particular.

You may want to consider this since the party that you are supporting is actively implementing a most dramatic muslim immigration to Sweden.

I really can NOT understand how you can regard Kurt Lundgrens website (that I have followed for years) as homophobic. On the other hand, in many muslim states REAL and VIOLENT homophobia is part of the legal system. If your party continues on its current course regarding immigration, you can be certain that whatever problems you may have now will look like nothing in the near future.

If you think about it, you may even come to the conclusion that Kurt Lundgren, who is one of very few people that is not afraid to discuss immigration in Sweden, is doing a lot more to preserve your opportunities to live your life as you choose than your own party.

Utlands Svensk,
I honestly don't know anything about Kurt Lundgren's opinions on Islamism. I came across his entry on Åke Green and googled his blog to find out what he has written about gays in the past. Mr Lundgren seems to be a man who thrives on being rude and disrespectful.

If you read my blog it should be obvious that I'm no fan of fascism in any shape or form. I oppose the bigotry of Islam and Christianity on the same grounds.

Bruce Bawer is right on Islamization, by the way.
