The Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention has presented a new report on hate crimes. The overall number of such crimes increased by 8 per cent in 2007. About 20 per cent of all hate crimes were motivated by homophobia.

Swedish newspaper Sydsvenska Dagbladet has an article about a gay man who was brutally attacked for walking hand in hand with his new boyfriend. Unfortunately, this is very common. Most of my friends have suffered violent attacks, which is why my husband and I never show any affection in public.

The hate is all around us.
