Ugandan Clergy Want Gay People to Rot in Prison

The leading clergy from dominant religious groups in Uganda have appealed to the government to scrape the death penalty in a new anti-homosexuality bill that is currently being debated in the country’s national parliament. But the appeal has nothing to do with compassion for oppressed people or concerns for human rights. On the contrary, the clergy think killing homosexuals does not serve its purpose; instead, they want the government to leave gay people to rot in prison.
